Small Things With Wings

I try not to watch this clip too much because sometimes it makes me dizzy but there are times when i just have to. It is beyond wonderful. Just a little scrap of beauty. The fluttering wings captured so perfectly and iconically on his equally fluttery film. The other night I saw my first Virginian firefly. It darted through the little thicket of pines that line our walk then disappeared.

This is lovely--the sound is my favorite part. Maybe because these are the sorts of things you could see with your eyes closed, so I think the clip could be appreciated eyes closed or open...
I think the sound is like orange coals breathing smoke, or a distant river, or the whisper of a phongraph needle...

oh that is beautiful--the sound is gorgeous. and i love how delicate (yet somehow really full) it is.

if someone had shown this to me when i was six or so, i would have believed immediately that it was a fairy, and would have run off into the garden to find one to become friends with.
i think we should all still believe in magic from time to time.
